POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Supervisor oversees the day-to-day technical operations of an immersive venue. This role ensures that every performance is delivered safely, reliably, and to the highest artistic and technical standards.

The position combines hands-on technical expertise, team supervision, and organizational responsibility. The Technical Supervisor serves as the main point of contact for all technical matters, continuous improvement initiatives, and long-term site maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Show Operations & Technical Expertise

  • Operate and support immersive shows to ensure smooth, safe, and consistent performances.
  • Master show programming, cue structures, show-control logic, and technical execution.
  • React quickly to technical incidents during performances and restore operations with minimal impact on visitors.
  • Perform daily pre-opening checks, system testing, and end-of-day shutdown procedures.
  • Ensure reliable daily operation of lighting, sound, video, FX, and show-control systems.
  • Collaborate with creative and technical teams on updates, fixes, and continuous improvements.
2. Technical Systems Management Ensure the maintenance, repair, and evolution of technical equipment, including:
  • Lighting systems
  • Audio systems
  • Video systems and projectors
  • Servers and networks
  • Show-control systems
  • FX equipment
  • Sensors and interactive technologies (RFID, etc.)
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Implementing preventive maintenance plans and regular system checks.
  • Supervising installation, configuration, and testing during technical periods or rehearsals.
  • Organizing technical spaces (server rooms, racks, cabling, spare parts, storage).
  • Managing inventories of critical equipment, consumables, and spare parts.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable technical and safety standards.
3. Planning, Team Supervision & Development:
  • Plan and manage technical team schedules to ensure proper coverage and balanced workloads.
  • Provide daily coaching and foster a collaborative, performance-oriented team culture.
  • Train technicians in show operations, troubleshooting, safety, and technical systems.
  • Monitor performance, provide feedback, and support skill development.
  • Offer direct operational support and assist the team with problem-solving.
  • Coordinate team roles during shows, rehearsals, maintenance periods, and special events.
4. Processes, Reporting & Documentation:
  • Define, implement, and maintain technical processes, including:
    • Incident management and follow-up
    • Spare parts procedures and ordering
    • Daily and weekly reporting
    • Maintenance plans
    • SOP updates and documentation
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation (system plans, schematics, SOPs, manuals, monitoring tools).
  • Establish clear organizational standards within the technical department.
  • Produce technical and incident reports, along with recommendations for improvement.
5. Health, Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations, legal requirements, and site standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure team training in safety procedures, equipment handling, and emergency protocols.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, responsibility, and professionalism.
6. Site Maintenance & Technical Development:
  • Implement and oversee preventive maintenance routines.
  • Manage repairs, replacements, and technical upgrades.
  • Supervise dismantling, storage, or reconfiguration of equipment after technical periods or show changes.
  • Coordinate interventions with external service providers and suppliers.
  • Identify long-term technical improvement opportunities and contribute to strategic planning.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Technical Skills:
  • Strong expertise in lighting, sound, video, FX, and show-control systems.
  • Experience with QLab, ETC EOS, projection systems, networks, and show automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans, patches, and documentation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
People Skills:
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Calm and effective under pressure.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree or training in technical, audiovisual, electrical engineering, production, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in live events, theatre, or immersive environments.
  • Proven experience operating and maintaining lighting, sound, video, and show-control systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Irregular working hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Physically demanding work (lifting, working at heights, ladders, confined spaces).
  • Occasional off-site installations or events.
REMUNERATION:
  • Gross annual salary starting from €40,000, based on a 12-month contract (excluding sectoral bonuses and potential extra-legal benefits).
